A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE PONTOTOC HIGH SCHOOL LADY WARRIORS GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 1998-1999 SEASON AND PERFORMANCE IN THE STATE AAA CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Pontotoc High School Lady Warriors Girls Basketball Team had an outstanding 1998-1999 season compiling a 31-7 record, and finishing a close second place in the State AAA Championship Tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Warriors completed an excellent tournament season, winning the Pontotoc Tournament, and the South Pontotoc Tournament, the District 1-AAA Tournament, while placing second in the North Mississippi AAA Regional Tournament and the State AAA Championship Tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Warriors were ably coached by Bill Russell and volunteer Assistant Coach Christy Murray, who fine tuned the players' athletic skills and instilled a team attitude; and

WHEREAS, the following outstanding players earned All-State and All-North Mississippi team honors: Keela Ball, Deanna Farr and Terri Crudup; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this fine group of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Pontotoc High School Lady Warriors Girls Basketball Team for their outstanding 1998-1999 season and performance in the State AAA Championship Tournament, and wish them continued success in their future athletic, academic and career endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be presented to Coach Bill Russell and the Principal of Pontotoc High School on behalf of the team, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
